About The Author
Rick Forristall developed this planner over a several year period while working toward his own military-to-civilian transition for his retirement in June 2006. He is a retired US Air Force major who spent nearly 25 years on active duty. Rick is one of those guys that needs order and organization to prevent chaos.rick_w_grandchildren As such, he spent a great deal of time developing what he then called, "The Retirement Binder: Designing a Post-Air Force Life." This was a collection of organizational tools he wrote and developed that allowed him to create and deploy an organized, managed approach to help make his transition to civilian life as successful as possible.

In the first 9 years of his Air Force career, Rick was an enlisted information manager (a '702' for those around long enough to understand). During those years he read, critiqued, edited and managed thousands of performance reports, awards, decorations, quarterly awards, annual awards, letters of recommendation and nomination packages giving him exceptional insight into documenting accomplishments to portray the best positive impact.

After that, Rick held a variety of leadership positions that afforded him the opportunity to apply that education when penning myriad performance reports, awards, decorations, nominations and letters of recommendation, among other documents. Rick also managed and wrote various operational and contingency plans and Air Force regulations and instructions. He applied all of these skills to develop the resources and tools that comprise "The Transition Binder: Designing a Post-Military Life."

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies Degree and an MBA in Information Systems. He currently is the owner of 4 in 10 Enterprises, LLC providing Web development and other online & Web-related services.

Rick converted his "Retirement Binder" into a "Transition Binder" and is pleased to offer this online planner as a free, effective service to assist you with your military-to-civilian transition. While Rick originally had an Air Force spin on the binder, the tools are effective for Veterans transitioning from any branch of Service.
